Sunset over Atkins, Va, early spring: this was a long day, and I caught the sunset shot right after I had finished setting up my tent in a small clearing above the trail. It is called stealth camping, and it's fun, even though sometimes not as comfortable as the shelters or regularly maintained campsites. The trick is to leave no trace of your presence the next morning.
