After climbing Clingman's Dome in the rain and sleet, and then descending four miles to Mt. Collins shelter in ever-dropping temperatures, we awoke the next morning to 18 inches of snow, which was very beautiful and somewhat dangerous. My section hike stopped that day at Newfound Gap.
